| Peter
has been training dogs for some 40 years and started at the age of 17.
The writing was on the wall for Peter’s future when his first dog
a Springer Spaniel dog named “Chris” was placed 3rd in his
first competition, and soon helped Peter reach “B” standard
in Obedience.
Peter
by now had been truly “bitten” by dog training, and travelled
up and down the country to competitions. By going on various obedience
courses he became one of the youngest trainers to obtain his “Advanced
Training Certificate”.
As
a judge Peter has worked “B” championship shows and “C”
at open shows. Hazelgrove Dog Training Club, Manchester, approached Peter
and asked him to become joint Head Trainer, a position he subsequently
held for twelve years.
Peter
moved to Scotland in the 80s and decided to take a break from dog training.
However, it was not long before his skills were in demand again. The need
for someone to help owners and their dogs was becoming obvious.
Peter
decided to offer help, by training on a one to one basis. As word of success
of this type of training spread, it was not long before a hall became
available in North Berwick and one of Peter’s private clients asked
him to start a training club.
Peter
now runs three clubs, Edinburgh, Penicuik and Musselburgh.
Private
Lessons in which he deals with a variety of problems ranging from aggressive,
nervous, frightened and psychological problems to the over enthusiastic
is the part of Peter’s work from which he achieves a great deal
of satisfaction, helping owners and dogs alike.
